Teletherapy

Here’s an alternative to in-person therapy.

With teletherapy, it’s never been easier to make space for therapy in your schedule.

Teletherapy is a modality by which we can offer most of our services and psychotherapy treatments using videoconferencing technology.

Except for EMDR therapy, which focuses on trauma work (read more info on this on Healing Trauma and PTSD), teletherapy can address all other psychological needs of our clients from beginning to end.

We can supplement teletherapy with in-person therapy if needed. Upholding your confidentiality will be of utmost importance to your therapist while using teletherapy methods.

Some people prefer to skip the video component of teletherapy and only dial-in using sound/audio to give their eyes and brain a rest from screen time. We honor whatever is most comfortable for you to facilitate the most effective therapy process.

Here are some benefits of teletherapy.

It provides a safe option for immunocompromised clients or those living with immunocompromised people. There is no need to commute to and from the therapy office, making it more convenient for tight schedules.

You can receive teletherapy from any location that you deem appropriate, as long as it is within New York state. (Please contact us if you are planning to have sessions while outside New York.)

You can immediately jump into bed and pull up the covers after a seriously challenging therapy session.

It’s easier to keep a consistent attendance, as external factors that affect participation are minimized.

Some visual guides and handout materials can be shared more efficiently than in-person. And while they are in the comfort of their designated space and safely far away from the therapist, some people have an easier time opening up about deeply uncomfortable/vulnerable topics.

Considerations to teletherapy.

Some people have a hard time finding a private space that feels quiet enough, safe, and comfortable, especially if the therapy process is interrupted by family members, mail and food delivery people, or your pets.

Technical difficulties may arise that might disrupt the audio or video, altering the flow of the session.

Some people feel less intimacy in the relationship with their therapist when comparing in-person experiences to teletherapy, and canceling therapy or changing it last minute will be slightly more embarrassing.

EMDR therapy won’t be an option unless you meet your therapist in the office at least twice to prep for treatment.

Don’t let the inconveniences stand in your way.

Teletherapy provides a viable alternative for those who cannot attend in-person therapy.

We offer you a secure and safe place where you can seek help and solutions to what is bothering you.
